Black Mamba 2023 Wrapped

Folks, where on earth did 2023 rush off to? It started, it kept going, and now *pooooof*, here we are at the end of it. And what an amazing, topsy-turvy, blessed, busy, challenging, satisfying year it’s been.

For us, at BLACK MAMBA, 2023 was the year of G. There was lots of growth (and growing pains to go along with it), as well as gratitude.

Through the support of our incredible suppliers, rockstar customers, brand ambassadors and our HOT team, we were able to continue on our mission to share our passion for Africa, for spicy flavours, and our quest for a greener and fairer world.

In fact, YOU helped us produce and sell 170 000+ units of dangerously tasty products around the world throughout 2023! That’s astonishing. We are so proud and delighted at the difference it makes up and down our fairtrade supply lines.

Here are a few of our other favourite bits of 2023:

Amazing new customers

AND SO MANY MORE

Global recognition

We are thrilled to announce that we have been honoured with a Brands that Matter Award by Fast Company. This achievement fills us with pride as it acknowledges our commitment to social action, sustainability, inclusivity, and, of course, fun!

HOT new products

Brand-new websites

We launched our e-commerce sites in both the UK and the UAE, so we can be closer to our Chilliheads and Ethical Foodies in these countries, and closer to our goal of chilli world domination.

Growing team + NEW production line

Now we have 80+ farmers that are part of our value chain, and 25 people in our factory team. This means our positive impact reaches 1400+ individuals in Eswatini.

There is also at least 80 hectares of arable land in Eswatini that is now farmed following regenerative agriculture methods that are good for the planet and for the rural communities.

We concluded the year with the roll-out of our state-of-the-art production line, fondly nicknamed ‘the Ferrari’. This cutting-edge addition enables us to increase our production tenfold. As a result, we are poised to share our passion for Africa and spicy flavours with even more chilliheads and ethical foodies worldwide.

Shrinking wastage

During our production, we generated 4 tonnes of waste. However, only 5% of this waste, equivalent to 215 kg, had to be sent to the landfill. This implies that over 3700 kg of waste were either recycled or converted into compost. Our target for 2024 is to reduce landfill disposal to 2.5%.

How amazing? We are beyond grateful, and we cannot wait to see what 2024 has in store for us! But one thing is for sure, it is going to be HOT.
